GETTA Help
Heating is on but radiators are cold
If the boiler appears to run but radiators stay cold, controls, circulation, valves, pressure or the boiler may be preventing heat reaching the system.
Likely causes
- Incorrect controls, closed valves, low pressure, pump failure or an airlock can stop circulation.
Safe checks you can make
- Check the programmed schedule, thermostat demand, pressure display and whether all or only some radiators are affected.
When to stop and get urgent help
- Do not open the boiler or force valves; seek prompt help during freezing conditions or if vulnerable occupants lack heat.
How a heating engineer can help
- A heating engineer can test controls, circulation and radiator valves; gas-boiler work requires Gas Safe registration.
