Wedding photographers can be booked well ahead for Saturdays in popular seasons. Begin comparing options once the venue and date are secure, especially if a particular photographer or style matters to you. Short-notice availability can exist, but choice may be narrower.

Parties and other events

For a fixed-date celebration, conference or performance, enquire when the venue and timetable are taking shape. Large events, late finishes, multiple locations or a need for more than one photographer require more planning than a short local gathering.

Portraits

Portrait sessions are often more flexible because dates can move, although weekends and seasonal family sessions may fill sooner. Allow extra time when photographs are needed for a particular deadline, gift or application.

Commercial work

Commercial photography may need a developed brief, access permissions, products, models, styling, locations and stakeholder approval. Work backwards from the publication date and allow time for planning, shooting, editing and revisions rather than treating the shoot date as the finish line.
