Phone screen not responding to touch
An unresponsive touchscreen can follow software failure, impact, moisture, screen damage or a swollen battery pressing on the display.
Likely causes
- A frozen operating system, damaged digitiser, loose internal connection or liquid ingress may affect touch.
Safe checks you can make
- Try the manufacturer’s normal forced-restart procedure and remove an obviously damaged screen protector.
- Do not charge or repeatedly restart a wet or swollen phone.
When to stop and get urgent help
- Power down and isolate a hot, swollen, hissing or chemically smelling device; do not puncture it.
How a phone repair technician can help
- A repair technician can test the display assembly and internal condition while discussing data-preserving options.
