Marquee wedding checklist
A marquee wedding is a temporary venue, so services a permanent venue normally hides must be planned explicitly. Start with the site, guest journey and supplier responsibilities before choosing finishing details.
Structure and layout
- Confirmed guest count and seated or standing format
- Tables, aisles, dance floor, stage, bar and catering areas
- Accessible entrance, routes and seating
- Measured site, ground conditions and anchoring plan
- Emergency exits and supplier access
Comfort and weather
- Suitable flooring and entrance matting
- Ventilation, shade or heating plan
- Wet-weather routes between key areas
- Severe-weather and cancellation arrangements
- Lighting for guests, work areas and external routes
Services and suppliers
Coordinate catering, toilets, water, waste, furniture, sound and power with named responsibilities. Electrical distribution and generators should be specified and installed by competent suppliers; do not improvise connections or fuel arrangements.
- Confirm total power requirements between suppliers.
- Keep catering preparation and guest circulation separate.
- Plan toilet quantity, location, lighting and servicing with the supplier.
Setup and removal
- Site access dates and vehicle routes
- Order of installation for structure, services and styling
- Who receives each supplier
- Noise or timing constraints
- Final collection and site-restoration responsibilities
